Here is my translation for Russia’s “White Flame” song, finally! *__*
I’m really sorry this took longer than I expected it to, but I hope my efforts will be enjoyed by those who would otherwise have no way of knowing what the lyrics are actually about. I tried to keep the lyrics sounding, and phrased, more sensibly to how I processed them. It was a very mentally stimulating experience, with the translation process as well as some of the really neat visual imagery some of the lyrics presented.
This song kind of destroyed me emotionally at times, which my buddy Ruuko had to endure throughout the translation process, haha. You can really get into Russia’s head at times here, and the word that describes the main feeling presented through this song is Russia’s sense of resignation. Even when there are moments of hope, there’s a lingering weight of sadness tinting everything. It’s dramatic and sad, yet beautiful and holding out for some level of hope no matter what. This is likely why “Having Friends is Nice” is the companion song. Without some obvious sense of hope, “White Flame” is a rather bleak song, after all.
I couldn’t help myself to see how I could draw Russia in my style, which was also lots of fun! I don’t recall doing as many fully colored pictures in such a short time before, so maybe I’ve leveled up in the process? I can only hope so, haha.
Thank you all for being patient with me through this whole process! This was a major undertaking, but in the end, I know it was worth the effort!
